EDMONTON – Two CF-18 Hornets from 4 Wing Cold Lake flew over the Winspear Centre in downtown Edmonton on Thursday.
The military salute was in remembrance of Capt. Chris Allan. The CF-18 Hornet pilot from Cold Lake died Oct. 26 after a boating accident last month.
The 31-year-old was one of four people in a boat when it flipped in Seymour Narrows. All four were rescued by an RCMP boat, but Allan was not responsive and passed away two days later in hospital.
The fly-by happened between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday during a memorial service for Allan.

Several people noticed the jets, but some didn’t know why they were flying over the downtown core at such a low altitude.
Did anybody else hear the frightening sounds of fighter jets over downtown just now? #yeg #yegdt
